How does regeneration work in MTG with -1/-1 spells?

If my enemy casts a spell that gives my bonesmugglin' -1/-1 until end of turn, in the case that my bonesmugglin' is a 1/1(one power and one defense), can I regenerate it? This is in magic the gathering of course.
