Nintendo ds, Animal Crossing, Wild World. How do you grow a palm tree, and how do you fish easily?

On my nintendo ds, Animal Crossing, Wild World, how do I get a Palm tree to grow? I've found a coconut and planted it and watered it but it 's gone next time I play. I've found only two coconuts in two months' daily play, is this how often they get washed up? Also,I am finding fishing really hard,catching bugs is easy, I never miss, but fishing is so difficult. Any tips? I love running from and then stalking and catching the tarantulas and scorpions by the way.
