Did Moses actually hear the voice of God on Mount Sinai?

God does not speak in audible words to people; but in thoughts and feelings. How then, can we explain God speaking to Moses? Did Moses hear an audible voice? If so, was he the one exception? Or did he hear God in thoughts and feelings as well? Or is it possible that Moses was insane and didn't really hear God's voice but only thought he did?
